Thank you for visiting the all-new ONYX website. As the organization's leader since its beginning in early 2009, I've had the privilege of watching this group of young professionals take shape, slowly but surely!

I'm excited at the progress we've made, yet even more excited for what's yet to come! Labor of Love :: Ottawa

For the 20th consecutive year, United Ways volunteer-based Labor of Love program will help low-income homeowners repair their homes at no cost to them. The program works in partnership with 11 area communities to rehabilitate the homes of low-income homeowners, particularly the elderly, disabled, veterans, widows of veterans and families with children. Almost all the work is done in one day, which traditionally takes place, rain or shine, the first Saturday in October. An estimated 500 volunteers, from all skill levels, will come together to tackle leaky roofs, broken stairs, peeling paint, faulty plumbing and wiring, unruly yards, dirty and drafty windows, and other weatherization and home-safety repair projects. Repair projects are planned and supervised by professional trades people, contractors and house captains who generously donate their time and skills.

After we work hard at Labor of Love, fellow Onyx members will plan to meet in Morris, IL for some fun and networking in downtown Morris, IL. If you are interested in meeting up, we plan to meet in front of Ebby\\\'s Bar, 402 N Liberty, Morris, IL at 8pm.
